It's Not Easy To See What Makes A Great Wedding Photographer
As with anything you can buy, there is a difference between: good and great.
THINK: Rolls Royce or Toyota. Jimmy Choo or Payless. Rolex or Timex.
Here are 3 categories that separate the GOOD and the GREAT:
1) PHOTOGRAPHS
The first thing to consider is the quality of the photos. Here is what you should ask yourself:
1) Are the photos well lit? Not too dark, not too bright? Can your photographer create a style of photos with the type of colors and mood you're looking for?
2) Does the photographer shoot in various styles to adapt to what you like? Classic? Contemporary? Modern?
3) Are the photos edited for clarity, sharpness, and beautiful colors? Or do the images look flat, dull, and flavorless?
4) Does the photographer capture emotion, or are all the photos staged and posed for?
5) Are you able to get a sense of emotion when looking at the photos? Has the photographer captured smiles, hugs, tears, laughter, and nervousness?
6) Are the photos provided in high resolution and high quality for large prints?
7) How long are your photos backed up and stored by your photographer in case you lose your digital copies?

You will get a sense of what it's like to work with your photographer throughout your interactions with them:
1) Does your photographer enjoy working with people?
2) Does your photographer lighten the mood, put smiles on your face and help you embrace the most important day of your life?
3) Does you photographer have a team to support them to ensure you have the best experience possible?
4) Is your photographer willing to accommodate your needs to the best of their ability? Will they go out of the way to make your day even better than expected?
5) How good is your photographer's communication? How quickly do they respond and provide you the answers to your questions?
3) CUSTOMER SERVICE
You can have great photos and a great experience, but still have terrible customer service. Many couples don't get what they expected! Ask yourself this:
1) How long does it take for you to get your final images? Many couples wait 6 months to 1 year before seeing proofs, samples, or anything to share with their family and friends!
2) Does your photographer only provide you with the basic photos, or are they able to get you albums, professional prints, and retouched photos for you personal print collection?
3) Do you like and enjoy working with your photographer. If you don't like your vendors, your experience will be far less enjoyable!
4) Does your photographer come on time and keep clear communication so there is no confusion?
5) Does your photographer have a team of people to back them up?
